German Shepherd Saved 1000 Freezing Turtles from the Snow Storm

Texas was struck with an unusual winter storm that left much of the state covered in snow, ice and many residents without power or water for several days.

The winter climate had an impact on people, but it also affected wildlife, especially sea turtles.

More than 9,000 sea turtles were found cold-stunned in the waters near the shore. Many turtles were killed, and hundreds of others required emergency medical treatment.

Many nonprofit sea turtle rehabilitation amenities labored alongside Texas Parks and Wildlife Division’s Texas Sport Wardens to assist save practically 5,000 turtles.

Salsa, also a German Shepherd, was on the scene as a detection dog for K9s 4 Conservation. He helped the turtles.

Saul used his eager scent to seek for cold-stunned sea turtles within the water and has helped save dozens of turtles’ lives because the chilly climate hit.
