Georgia Libertarian Senate Candidat would be happy to force runoff and wants to offer third option to voters

U.S. Senate Candidat Chase Oliver, who is running in Georgia as a Libertarian to fill the seat held by Democrat Raphael Warnock said he would “happy” force a second round because it would reveal voters dissatisfaction with Republicans and Democrats.

To win an outright election, candidates must have received at least 50% and one vote. The Peach State.

Recent polling indicates Oliver has about 4% support. He has little chance of winning the Senate race against Republican Herschel Walker and Warnock. The Libertarian could however force his opponents to a January runoff.

Oliver stated, “I’m glad that there is a second round because they need to have more than half the support of a candidate in order for them to win.” FOX Atlanta“I don’t believe in plurality vote. This is what causes someone to get 40% of the vote, representing 100% of the population. That’s why runoffs exist to prevent this.”

He continued, “If you cause a runoff it’s a good thing because it will show that voters have had enough of the two parties and want better options.”

Last month, a Fox News poll showed Warnock leading Walker by 46% to Walker’s 41%. 

Oliver’s 2022 Senate race is his second run for public office. He ran in the 2020 special election to replace late Democratic Rep. John Lewis but was beaten by Former Atlanta City Councilman Kwanza Hall.  

Oliver stated that ending the war against drugs was one of his priorities during his campaign. Oliver stated that marijuana should be legalized at federal level.

He said that more than half of the US population lives in states where cannabis has been legalized. “I believe it is time to legalize cannabis federally. This will allow Georgia farmers to produce a new cash crop.

Oliver’s campaign is also focused on other issues, including immigration reform, criminal Justice reform, cutting red tape, protecting privacy rights, and ending wars.

Oliver, who polling shows would receive just 4% of the vote, is unlikely to have a shot at winning the Senate race against Warnock and Republican Herschel Walker.

The biggest concern for voters is November’s ElectionsAbortion access is a major concern, especially since the Supreme Court reaffirmed the landmark Roe V. Wade decision in June.

He declared that he supports abortion and said that the government shouldn’t dictate to women what they can do about their bodies.

Oliver said that he supports Second Amendment rights. Oliver also stated that he owns guns and believes it is a great idea for people who want to defend themselves.

Oliver has vowed to offer an alternative to those who are not happy with either major party. He also resisted the notion that a vote for third-party candidates is a wasted vote.

 It has been alleged that libertarians are to be blamedIn past elections, it was either Republicans or Democrats that lost the election.

“Thanks to the runoff system we have, you’re not ever going to be spoiling for another candidate,” he said. “No vote is wasted if it’s principally for you and for the candidate you believe in.”
