George R.R. Martin claims that the House of the Dragon will need four seasons and addresses the issue of time leaps

George R.R. Martin discusses the infamous “time leaps” in House of the DragonHe also discussed how long he believes the HBO series should run. This is a very different pace from what he had previously stated. Game of Thrones.

He also spoke about the time jumps made by the show during its first season, which brought the timeline to close to 20 years since the beginning. This implies that several actors were replaced, including Milly Acock (young Rhanyra), Emily Carey (young Alicent), and Olivia Cooke (embedded D’Arcy).

Martin appreciated the use of time jumps, considering them a result of shorter seasons’ necessity. Contrary to previous series like The Sopranos that lasted 13 seasons House of the DragonThere are only 10 episodes per season.

The Sopranos13 episodes per season. But it was only a few years later. Game of ThronesOnly 10 (and that’s not even the case, the two previous seasons). If House of the Dragon had 13 episodes per season, maybe we could have shown all the things we had to “time jump” over,” he said.

The addition of more storylines, however, “would have risked having some viewers complain that the show was too “slow,” that “nothing happened,” adds Martin.

Therefore, House of the DragonMartin says that he will need to make some plot decisions using 10 episodes. But, at the moment, Martin recognizes that it will require four complete seasons of 10 episodes each in order to fully portray the Dance of the Dragons from beginning to end.

Fortunately, House of the Dragonalready renewed for a second year.
