ArsenalGabriel, a defender, has signed a long-term contract with the club.
Gabriel, 24, made 81 appearances in Arsenal’s first season since moving from Lille in the summer 2020.
On Gabriel’s new contract, manager Mikel Arteta said: “Gabi has shown huge qualities since he joined us. We have greatly appreciated his strong performances over the past two seasons as a young player with a great attitude and work ethic.
“Working with Gabi every day is a pleasure, he has formed strong relationships with everyone at the club and we’re so pleased that he has committed to us on a long-term contract.”
Gabriel’s performances for Arsenal saw him called up to the Brazil squad last season but the centre-back did not earn a senior cap for his country. He was not selected in Tite’s squad for the September international fixtures.
Technical director Edu added: “It’s great that we’ve agreed a new deal with Gabi. At 24, he’s still a young player and is part of our future. His performance since joining us in 2020 has been strong, and his positive influence on our results has been obvious for everyone.
“He has grown so much on and off the pitch, with both his contribution and communication on and off the pitch. We all look forward to see Gabi continue to grow as an important part of our club.”
Gabriel has played in every game Premier LeagueMinute so far this season, Arsenal has won nine of the top 10 spots in the table.
