FTX owes Jimmy Buffett $55,000 to Margaritaville Bahamas Resort

Lawyers for FTX have filed lists of top 50 creditors Monday for the companies connected to Sam Bankman Fried’s crypto exchange. 

Margaritaville’s $55,319 claim makes it the fourth largest creditor. Alameda – the high-risk trading firm which CoinDesk reportedsuspiciously close ties with FTX which ultimately led to its collapse.

The 4 star hotel is situated on Nassau’s sandy beach. The Presidential Suite costs more than $3,300 per night. This means that the FTX bill could have purchased more than two weeks of the most luxurious room.

Margaritaville’s luxuries include $160 Tomahawk steaks at the fine dining restaurant named after Buffett, or $62 bottles of prosecco at the bar – but you’d have to get through 892 of them to reach the same debt as FTX.

The resort offers a service that can accommodate large events and corporate events as well as a docking service to yachts. 

Insider attempted to reach the resort via email and phone to find out exactly what FTX spent the money on, but to no avail.

Alameda also owes $4.6million to Amazon Web Services according to the latest court documents.

However, this is a small amount compared to the FTX business where one customer has requested $226 million.

FTX did no immediate respond to a request for comments.
