Frontier Flight Makes an Emergency Landing Due To Passenger with Box Cutter

  • Frontier Airlines made an emergency landing following a complaint from a passenger who saw him with a box cutter. 
  • According to an Atlanta airport spokesperson, he threatened to stab passengers.

Frontier Airlines Flight from Cincinnati to Tampa Made an emergency landingAtlanta, Georgia on Friday night. A passenger was spotted holding a box cutter.

Tim Turner, spokesperson at Atlanta International Airport, stated that the man threatened to stab passengers and crew on flight 1761. The New York Times

According to the airline, nobody was hurt. Atlanta Police took the passenger into custody.

It is not clear how he was able to fit the box cutter on the plane. Since the tightening of security regulations for aircraft after 9/11, box cutters have been banned. Among the weaponsAl Qaeda hijackers used it on September 11, 2001.

Pre-flight screening should identify knives and blades, as well as box cutters. 

Frontier Airlines spokesperson Jennifer de la Cruz stated that all passengers were given hotel accommodations in Atlanta and that a new flight was scheduled for Saturday to take them from Tampa.
