Frank Lampard, Everton manager, was once forced to dodge punches from Tottenham fans. This sparked a melee that involved John Terry and Didier Drrogba in the fiery Spurs-vs Chelsea clash at White Hart Lane

When it comes to fiery encounters between Chelsea and Tottenham, it’s difficult to look past the ‘Battle of the Bridge’ in 2016.

Frank Lampard, Everton manager and Blues legend, will recall that White Hart Lane hosted a war between the arch rivals back at 2007.

A Cup match between Spurs and Chelsea in 2007 was followed by ugly scenes

Lampard will be taking his Toffees side along to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this Saturday. We take a look back on one of his most memorable visits to north London that was infamous for being ill-fated.

Breathtaking goals from Andriy Shevchenko and Shaun Wright-Phillips should’ve been the game’s main talking points.

Instead, it was something more unpleasant and unsavory, as the bitter rivalry between Chelsea, Spurs spilled out onto the pitch.

After winning a hard-fought FA Cup quarterfinal replay, John Terry, Didier Drogba, and Lampard celebrated naked in front of cheering Chelsea fans at Park Lane.

Provocative? Perhaps. However, that was no excuse for the next thing Tottenham fans did.

He evaded the stewards and charged onto the pitch, making a run for Lampard. Lampard caught the pitch invader from the corner of his eyes.

Luckily, Lampard read the supporter’s intention and managed to duck underneath a punch which was thrown at his chin, sparking chaos on the pitch.

Terry and Drogba were the first to arrive on the scene. Blues coach RuiFaria wrestled the fan and Lampard tried his best to retaliate. However, stewards arrived along with Jose Mourinho to calm down the situation.

Another Chelsea fan tried to enter the pitch, and was also dragged off by security.

Spurs expelled Lampard immediately, but he did not press criminal charges.

One thing is certain, Tottenham and Chelsea fans are in love.

Let’s just hope that hate doesn’t take over Saturday.
