Frank Lampard spoke of his pride in not being the Premier League’s first boss to be fired this season.
Last term was a difficult one for the Toffees, but Lampard managed to save them from relegation by helping them to win a tough battle in the basement.
The Merseysiders were widely expected to be relegated in the current season. Many also expect Lampard to become the first top flight boss to be fired.
Everton currently sits in 12th place in the Premier League. The Toffees are surpassing expectations this term, with trips to Newcastle and Tottenham in the future. LampardHe said that he hoped that he and his team could continue to silence their critics.
Asked if it’s an important run of games for Everton, Lampard responded: “You could probably say that about every run.
“You get past that and then it’s like ‘what about these ones? You should win these ones,’ they’re not easy questions to answer other than by saying that the Premier League will always throw up difficulties.
“People probably make us underdogs in these games because we’re away against strong teams and I get that.
“Let’s enjoy that, let’s understand it and see what we can do.
“We’ve already shown this season that we can maybe go against people’s opinions of us.
“I heard a lot of opinions before the start of the season that we were going down and that I was number one to be leaving, all of those things. There’s nothing better than proving people wrong and these two games are probably a situation like that, but they’re not the end of the story for us.
“We’ve got ourselves in a position now where if we take two hits or three hits then we have to come back stronger because we took a lot of hits last year when I came in and before I was here and the problem at that time as that we were on the floor in terms of confidence.
“Now you look at us and you think can we be mentally stronger than that as a club? These games will be a good test for us.”
