France’s Emmanuel Macron criticizes Biden’s ‘Armageddon’ warning: We must speak with prudence

French President Emmanuel MacronPresident Biden’s warnings of “Armageddon”, as Russia invokes the possibility of using nuclear weapons, was criticized by many.

Biden madeThe comments made during Thursday’s speech to the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, in which Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that he isn’t laughing when it comes to using weapons-of-mass destruction.

“[Putin was]Biden stated that he is not laughing when he speaks about tactical nuclear weapons, biological or chemical weapon use. “We haven’t faced the possibility of Armageddon ever since Kennedy and the Cuban Missile Crisis.”

Macron responded to Biden’s remarks at Friday’s European Union summit in Prague, saying that “We must speak with Prudence when commenting about such matters.”

France 24 reports that Macron stated that the solution to the conflict in Ukraine must include “deescalation”, and a “solution which is acceptable to leaders and peoples of Ukraine.” 

In September, Putin made a speech to warn NATO members about Russia’s capabilities.

Putin stated that “I would like to remind you that our nation also has different means of destruction and for separate components, which are more modern than those of NATO nations.” “And when our country’s territorial integrity is at risk, to protect Russia, and our people, we will use every tool at our disposal.”

Karine Jean-Pierre, White House press secretary, defended Biden’s comments about “Armageddon”.

“The kind of irresponsible rhetoric we have seen is no way for the leader of a nuclear-armed state to speak, and that’s what the president was making very clear,” Jean-Pierre said.

She added that she believed the White HouseThere are no signs that Russia is considering using nuclear weapons.

Jean-Pierre stated, “We have no reason to adjust the strategic nuclear posture of our country. We also don’t have any indications that Russia is planning to use nuclear weapons in the near future.”
