Florida debate: DeSantis promises to put Crist out to pasture’, as Democrat defends gender surgery for minors

Republican Florida Governor Ron DeSantisOn Monday, he pledged to end Charlie Crist’s political career. Meanwhile, Crist defended gender surgery for minors in a heated debate that took place just two weeks before the November general elections.

“Well, Charlie may be interested in talking about Joe Biden and 2024, but I just wanted to make it very clear: Charlie Crist, the only worn out, old donkey that I’m looking after,” DeSantis said, when Crist tried to force Crist to answer whether he intended to run for President or serve another term of full-time governor if he were reelected.

“This reminds you of your position regarding a woman’s rights to choose. You think you have the right to decide what your personal health is. You want to be the judge. You want to decide what people do with their bodies, and whether or not they wish to exercise their right to choose as women. It’s not right. He stated that he didn’t believe in such things.

“You don’t possess the temperament to be kind and considerate to others who don’t look or act like yourself, or who don’t make a contribution to your life.” “We’re all children and grandchildren of God. That doesn’t mean you are the one to decide what other people should do, especially with women’s bodies,” he said.

DeSantis responded by arguing that teens weren’t in the right position to make such decisions. DeSantis also referenced another law which prohibits teens from doing certain things.

“A 15-year-old can’t get a tattoo in Florida. But, we are suggesting that you could have a double mastectomy. No. He said that it is wrong to do this to minors and that Florida will not allow it to happen.

“You support it for minors. Crist was then informed that he meant to be open with people about it.

Crist said that it was “a difficult choice” for someone to make and then referred to the topic again as abortion. 

“You should have a governor that understands that a woman’s right to choose. You need someone who can respect that decision,” he stated. 

“It doesn’t seem to me that Governor DeSantis wants stop doing this, to respect the decision of another family about what they want their children to do,” he said.
