Fitbit, the latest Android app to support Google’s Health Connect service, has received support following an Android update.
Fitbit version 3.69 now available on the Play Store (via 9to5Google), and while there are no visible changes to the app, support for Health Connect is the most notable addition.
Navigating to Permissions and data > App permissionsIn the Health Connect appFitbit now appears in the “Not permitted access” section. Click the Fitbit icon to enable app access. You can check each option for data the app should have access to or simply select “Allow all”, if you wish.
Fitbit is not like other apps that offers the option to view data.

Google Health Connect was launched in January. This service aims at making fitness and health data more easily accessible between apps. Apps that don’t normally sync should now be able to communicate with each other via Health Connect.
Google announced earlier this year that Health Connect data is encrypted and on-device. Users will be able to turn off data access and delete it, as well as the option to prioritize data sources when they use multiple apps.
Many apps, such as Google Fit, Samsung Health and Withings Health Mate have already been able to support Health Connect. Fitbit joined the party and it will be much easier for users bring their Fitbit data to Google Fit. This feature was not available without third-party applications. Google will continue its efforts with Fitbit. dual-app strategy.
