Fire Department attempts to beat the clock before Stranded Dog freezes to death

North Dakota’s West Fargo Fire Department is primarily known for saving people from burning buildings, but firefighters also go on other types of rescue missions. Recently, a call came into the Cass County Sheriff’s Office about a stranded dog. The team was quick to respond!

The rescuer happened to be in the vicinity of the dog and saw it. If that hadn’t been the case, any number of unfortunate events could have unfolded. One morning we were contacted by someone who claimed that a chocolate Labrador Retriever was stuck on ice in the middle of a frigid stream.

The dog somehow escaped from her owner’s property and managed to get herself caught on the floating ice with no way to get to dry land. The dog was terrified and cold. She didn’t know anyone who could save her.

Poor Lola remained frozen on the ice as the rescuer was dropped into the river. Although Lola was scared, she may have felt the arrival of the cavalry. Once the rescuer who was tethered to a rope hurled himself onto the ice, he had to gain the dog’s trust.

The kind and generous soul who saved the dog managed to secure her in his arms, as he was being pulled back to shore.

Watch the video below to see the heart-pounding rescue mission that ended with a very happy conclusion!
