Filmmaker Woody Allen announces retirement; ‘Wasp 22’ to be his last film

Woody Allen recently announced his retirement.

According to the filmmaker, he would rather focus on writing.

Woody Allen, an American actor and director whose work spans over six decades, has announced his retirement.

As per VarietyWhile in Europe working on his 50th movie, the multi-Academy Award-winning filmmaker revealed to a Spanish newspaper that his plans were to stop making films and instead dedicate more time to writing in his later years.

Woody Allen’s final film is set in Paris and will be shot entirely in French in a span of a couple of weeks.

According to the filmmaker, his film will be similar to his 2005 film. Match Point in a way that the film would be “exciting, dramatic and also very sinister”.

Woody Allen has also just published his fifth collection humour pieces. Zero GravityAlianza will publish the book on September 27, in Spain. The fifth collection of humour pieces was published by Arcade and distributed by Simon & Schuster in the US.

Because of the abuse allegations against him, the filmmaker is spending more time filming Europe than he was in America.

Woody Allen and his film opened the San Sebastian Film Festival in 2020. Rifkin’s FestivalFilmed in and around San Sebastian. The film stars Elena Anya, Louis Garrel and Wallace Shawn.

His 2019 film, Rainy Day in New YorkAmazon Studios pulled the film from release. The film starred Timothee Chalamet Selena Gomez Elle Fanning Jude Law and many others.
