FIFA 23 confirm Ted Lasso’s AFC Richmond player ratings with striker Jamie Tartt better than Arsenal’s Gabriel Jesus, while Sam Obisanya rivals Marcus Rashford but Manchester United icon Roy Keane still more aggressive than Roy Kent

Fans of hit US show Ted Lasso were delighted to see fictional team AFC Richmond added to FIFA 23, and they’ll be even more surprised by their player ratings.

The Emmy television awards 2022 saw the show, led by Jason Sudeikis, a Hollywood star, win a variety of Emmy nominations, including wins for supporting actor, comedy series, and lead actor.

Some players may be disappointed that they are ranked lower than fictional stars.

Making a huge dent in the US as football, or soccer, makes an increasing impact stateside, the Apple+ TV show hasn’t quite taken off in the UK yet, but that may all be about to change.

Ted Lasso’s focus is on fictional English side AFC Richmond. This team recently made headlines. By joining FIFA 23Their player ratings have now been released.

EA haven’t held back either, giving star striker Jamie Tartt a 84 overall rating – higher than the likes of Arsenal’s goalscoring revelation Gabriel Jesus and World Cup-winning France forward Antoine Griezmann, as well as Liverpool’s £85million record signing Darwin Nunez.

Toheeb James, an English actor, was nominated at the Emmys for best supporting actor. His character Sam Obisanya has received an overall rating of 81.

That put him above comparable players such as Manchester United’s Anthony Martial who’s on 80, and level with his Red Devils teammate Marcus Rashford who is a point above.

Leeds’ Wisconsin-born coach Jesse Marsch regularly has to deal with Ted Lasso comparisons, and there were even reports that during Ralf Rangnick’s tenure at Old Trafford his American assistant Chris Armas Hence, the nicknameBy the players.

However, the only character that seemingly bears a solid resemblance to a real life counterpart is Roy Kent, who- as the name suggests – has been likened to Old Trafford legend Roy Keane.

Brett Goldstein won an Emmy for his portrayal of the character, representing a weathered midfield veteran with a short temper who even wears the captain’s armband.

Kent receives an 83 FIFA rating. Although FIFA 23 has yet to release its legend cards ratings, Keane will still enjoy the last laugh. His overall score of 88 last year is likely to remain the same. This should keep him ahead of his doppelganger.

The Irishman also has a higher level of aggression.
