FBI makes 6000 arrests, seizes firearms & fentanyl during a huge summer-long operation

FBI agents arrest nearly 6,000 Anonymous violent criminalsIn the last four months, over 2,700 firearms were confiscated across the country. Also, large amounts of fentanyl have been seized. 

Operations were performed with local law enforcement officers from Los Angeles to Buffalo (New York), as violent crime has increased and overdose deaths have increased in recent years. 

FBI Director Christopher Wray stated that violent crime is on many Americans’ minds right now. He also said that police chiefs and sheriffs are aware of the increasing rate of gun-gang violence and have told him repeatedly that this is one of their most difficult and important challenges.

The murder rate for the United States average was 6.9 per 100,000 in 2021. It is the highest in nearly 25 year. The homicide rate in America’s largest cities has increased since 2000, according to a survey. It dropped by 2.4%Nevertheless, other violent crimes have continued to rise in 2022.

Drug overdose deaths, meanwhile, Nationally, it was over 107,000A new record high was achieved in 2021. 

The FBI reports that law enforcement efforts this summer led to the destruction of more than 100 violent gangs involved in drug trafficking and gun violence. 

This month, the Albuquerque FBI Violent Gang Task Force seized more than one million fentanyl pills, 142 pounds of methamphetamine, $1.8 million in cash, 37 firearms, and two hand grenades as part of an operation targeting the Syndicato de Nuevo Mexico prison gang, along with the Sureños and West Side Locos. 

Texas’s MS-13 gang members, who are based in Houston, were indicted on a variety of charges in August, including seven murders and racketeering conspiracy. 

“These murders were allegedly brutal in nature and include the killing of a juvenile female and a police informant,” the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Texas wrote. “The murders also included multiple acts involving mutilation or dismemberment using machetes.”

There are 28 members of the Los Angeles-based Eastside PlayboysThe gang were charged with drug, racketeering or firearms offenses. In Chicago, three individuals were arrested for violent carjackings. Hawaii, three were arrested for drug trafficking. Pennsylvania, 25 were arrested for drug trafficking.

“I believe the FBI’s most sacred duty is to ensure people can live free from fear in their own homes and neighborhoods,” Wray said this week. 

“To achieve this end, we have agents, analysts, as well as technical resources throughout the country that work with local and state law enforcement to support these operations.”
