Fantasy Premier League Gameweek 9 Preview: Injury updates and reasons why you need Mitrovic/Toney

After a long two-week international break off the back of widespread postponements following the Queen’s death, Gameweek 9 is almost upon us in Fantasy Premier League. There have been a few developments during the lengthy hiatus which will affect a lot of managers’ FPL teams.

I will be highlighting the main stories from international games around the globe, and going through some key talking points before Gameweek 9.

Information on injuries

Alexander Isak (£7.1million) suffered a leg injury that caused him to return to his club without playing a single minute of Sweden’s two Nations League ties. He seems to be out of Newcastle’s game away to FulhamYou could also miss Saturdays and a few other weeks.

Isak was a popular pick up among Gameweek 8 wildcarders. They will now be searching for a replacement. If you don’t have Fulham’s Aleksandar Mitrovic (£6.9m) already, then he is, of course, the obvious choice. If you do, Ivan Toney (£7.3m) and Dominic Solanke (£5.7m) are the next best options.

Toney is the more superior pick in isolation.
