Maverick is a big-hearted dog who loves to make friends with other dogs.
The Dodo quotes Lilly Ann Flores, Maverick’s owner, as saying, “He is a wonderfully sweet and loving dog.”
Maverick, however, doesn’t take any chances when it comes to Halloween figurines.
Maverick recently visited his family in Texas when he unintentionally saw some unsettling new visitors outside—a spooky (almost) gathering of cardboard cutout cats.
Flores had actually decided to place the cats there for Halloween decorations the night before. Of course, it wasn’t meant to be very frightful, but Maverick didn’t seem to get the memo.
Maverick was frozen like a statue when the cutout cats caught his eye.

Flores remembered that he was stuck in place when I turned around. “I burst out laughing. He’s never done that before, I believe.
Maverick seems to be “pointing,” a behavior some puppies exhibit when trying to alert their owners to something of interest, however, it’s impossible to know for sure what was going through his mind at the time.
Maverick was, therefore, merely trying to tell his family about the unusual cat situation outside.
The cardboard cutouts were not dangerous. Just the Halloween season, that’s all.
Flores remarked, “I think [the cats] just caught him off guard.”
Whatever the case, Maverick’s family continues to have his back when it comes to frightful things, whether they be real or imagined.
