The social media platform revealed new features for Facebook Groups during the Facebook Communities Summit.
According to Facebook’s official Blog PostMeta-owned platform, Meta, is seeking to encourage more community engagement through Facebook groups.
Additions start with ReelsIn Groups. This feature allows users to express themselves in their communities by creating “creative and immersive videos”. Members and group admins will be able to add audio, text overlays, filters and other creative elements to their videos before sharing them with the community.
A new feature allows you to share public Facebook events for your community to an Instagram story. Meta is also testing updates for your Group Profile on Facebook. These are designed to make it easier for you to connect and build relationships with others.
You can also customize your About Me, and indicate to others if you are open to messaging.
Facebook is offering curated experiences to help admins build a group’s culture. This is the beginning of community contributions, which admins can use as a way to highlight top contributors. The community can give these top members points by giving them a role. These points can be used to earn badges which will appear on their group profiles.
“Socializer” is a new role being evaluated. A socializer is someone who helps others feel welcomed and connected to the community.
We are also receiving an update on the previously mentioned Admin Assist. This feature is still in development. It will be updated to include additional methods for removing false information from a community. Administrators can set the assistant to automatically move posts containing false information. These posts will become “pending” so admins can examine them before making decisions.
Daily Digest gives admins of groups a summary of daily actions in their community, based upon the ruleset. Meta is currently testing an extension for its Flagged By Facebook feature. Administrators will have additional information about harmful content that has been flagged by this extension. It will also allow you to determine if a comment is actually offensive.
