Fabrizio Romano is one of the biggest names in football as a transfer insider, but he’s now trying his hand at Formula 1.

The Frenchman, who was previously named Toro Rosso and is now Red Bull, has been part of the Red Bull stable ever since he broke into F1 in 2017. Alpha with Alpha Urinaria.
Now though, he’s finally set to say goodbye to the energy drink-backed brand, signing up for French squad Alpine who are run by motoring giants Renault.
The move has been heavily rumoured since Fernando Alonso announced his shock departure to Aston Martin and then Oscar Piastri declared he wouldn’t be driving for them next season, with race winner Gasly an obvious candidate to partner countryman Esteban Ocon.
Romano confirms that the news was announced in a surprising manner.
“Different kind of Here we go today!” he wrote. “For some minutes I’ll be into Formula 1.
“I understand Pierre Gasly will join BWT Alpine F1 Team from Alpha Tauri from the end of the season.
“Personal terms all signed and an official announcement is expected in the coming hours.”
Alpine responded to the news with a ‘thinking face’ emoji, while Aston Martin got in on the fun with a picture of drivers Sebastian Vettel and Lance Stroll surprised at a phone.
Gasly had signed an extension for one year earlier in the year. Red Bull, however, is struggling to find talent to fill its seat.
