Expert picks and odds for NFL Week 8: Bills vs. Packers, Rams at 49ers, and every other game

Josh AllenCompare Aaron RodgersIt is almost as thrilling as a quarterback matchup in the NFLThese days. Unfortunately, Packers offense seems to be lost and can’t find its way to the end zone. Green Bay still hasn’t scored more than 30 points in a game this season, and it has averaged just 17.7 points per game during its three-game losing streak.

The Bills — coming off their bye week — are favored by more than 10 points on Sunday night. It’s a shocking line as Aaron Rodgers is a double-digit underdog for the first time in his NFL career. Will the Bills continue their dominance of opponents or will they use this game to get right against one the NFL’s most formidable defenses?

Sunday’s NFC West game will be played at the Stadium. 49ersVisit the Los Angeles Rams. It’ll be Christian McCaffrey’s first full game with the 49ers, as he only touched the ball on 10 of 72 plays last week in a loss to the Chiefs. Los Angeles is coming off its bye week, and we’ll see if the Rams have figured out their offensive line issues that have caused issues since Week 1. The NFC West is a mess. Imagine Tampa Bay and Baltimore meeting in Super Bowl. It wasn’t a stretch to think that the 2022 NFL season would have begun. The matchup in Week 8 was a battle of two teams that neither has shown any signs of being a contender for the Super Bowl. However, the Buccaneers are looking to end a terrible two-game losing streak. The Ravens are slightly favorite on the road.

Kickoff is at 8:15 p.m. ET on Thursday evening from Tampa Bay. Amazon Prime allows you to view the game.

The Buccaneers offense is among the worst in the league. In the last two weeks, it has fallen to the bottom scoring 21 points in consecutive losses. Pittsburgh Carolina. They managed only three points against the Panthers team, who had changed coaches and benched their starting quarterback. The Panthers also traded their best player.

Despite this, the Buccaneers still hold the first place spot in the NFC South with an overall record of 3-4. However, they are still a ways from where they wanted to be.

Baltimore is meanwhile aiming to win consecutive games for only the second time this season. Ravens have been inconsistent this season, with alternating wins and losing throughout the season. They also lost several leads by double digits in their three losses.

Lamar JacksonHe has been as active as ever on ground, but has experienced some inconsistencies during the passing game, especially the fourth quarter.

Both teams have been poor against the spread in this season’s edition, with the Ravens finishing at 2-4-1 and Tampa Bay at 2-5.

Baltimore is looking forward to this game because it has eight games in a row against teams with losing records, some of the worst in the league, and can win here.

Two struggling teams meet Sunday in London as the Denver Broncos (Jaguars) and Jacksonville Jaguars (Broncos) make the journey across the pond. The Jaguars are just a field goal ahead.

You can tune in to ESPN+ at 9:30 AM ET. ET to watch the Jaguars and Broncos play at Wembley Stadium in London, you’ll see a battle between two teams looking to end four-game skids. England could be the place for Jacksonville to get back on track. They defeated the Miami DolphinsIn their last NFL London match (2021), they were 4-4 with eight trips. Perhaps Wembley Stadium might bring some of these players to the NFL. Trevor LawrenceThe Jacksonville offense is similar to last year.

The Jaguars fly to London frequently, but the Broncos don’t. They’ve gone twice and haven’t registered a single win, and if they want to on Sunday, there’s a chance they’ll need to figure out how to generate some offense — with or without Russell Wilson. He’s suffering from a partially torn hamstring and is questionable for the game.

Despite a 3-4 record and almost no expectations at the start of the season, the Atlanta Falcons still enter Sunday’s game against Carolina tied for first place in the NFC South. They could be in sole possession for first place at the end of the week. They are slightly more than a field goal favorite against Carolina.

Kickoff will take place at 1 p.m. ET Sunday in Atlanta FOX will broadcast the match.

The Falcons have leaned heavily on one of the league’s best ground games to stay in the hunt this season, already having four different players that have rushed for more than 170 yards and averaged more than 4.2 yards per carry. This matchup should be favorable against the Carolina defense, which has been among the worst in the league.

Carolina has just won a dominant victory against Tampa Bay, but it is clearly a team that is throwing in the towel. They have already made changes to their coaches and changed their quarterback. Robbie AndersonChristian McCaffery, and running back.

Atlanta should be expected win this game, given all that is said. This is especially true at home. This will be the first of two meetings between the teams in the next four weeks. The Falcons have a great chance to keep up with Tampa Bay in NFC South.

Atlanta has also been a league-best 6-1 against spread this season, and has scored the over in four of seven of its seven games. The over/under for Sunday’s game is set at 42, a mark that the Falcons have easily hit in six of their first seven games.

Justin FieldsIn the Bears win over the Bears, looked like a potential franchise quarterback PatriotsOn Monday. He’ll need to continue looking the part when Chicago, on a short week, travels to Dallas at 1 p.m. ET Sunday at AT&T Stadium on FOX.

With Dak PrescottThe Cowboys are almost double-digits in favor of Dallas when they’re back in the saddle. It’s a big spread, and it makes sense to a point.

The Bears were almost inept offensively but Foxboro changed their game plan with 11 designed runs by Fields. This more than doubles his career high of five.

This year, the Cowboys faced two other quarterbacks that are run-thriving. Daniel Jones Jalen Hurts. Jones was allowed to rush for 79 yards by the Cowboys on nine attempts. They held Hurts to just 27 yards in nine attempts against Jones.

Hurts also does the same with his arm and Jones has done more than Fields in his short career.

It’s a step in the right direction for Fields and the Bears offense, as the 33 points are a season-high, and the 390 yards on offense are the second-most this season – behind 391 the prior week against Washington.

They must not ignore the signs and good vibes, but they must travel to Dallas to face the No. 2 defense based upon DVOA and No. 3rd team overall in team DVOA.

Micah Parson Trevon DiggsFields, Prescott, and co. Fields will have a lot of work ahead of him. And with Prescott back under center for the Cowboys, the Bears’ surprisingly good pass defense will be tested for the third time this season (Kirk CousinsAaron Rodgers

Tua TagovailoaThe Dolpbins’ line-up was reunited and they ended a three-game losing streak. The Miami Dolphins will be looking to continue the momentum as they travel to Detroit Sunday afternoon to face the Lions. ET at Ford Field on CBS

The Dolphins are the favorite by scoring a field goal against Lions.

The Dolphins (4-3) are now ahead of the Bills (5-1), with Tagovailoa back. Jets (5-2).

The Lions, meanwhile, find themselves in familiar territory – dead last in AFC North – at 1-5. This despite scoring the seventh-most points in the conference – and most in the division – so far this season.

Although mathematically, the Lions are still mathematically alive. TexansAs the league’s only other winning team, they will be focused on the draft for the 999th time in approximately 100 years. Sorry Lions fans.

This is a key stretch for the Dolphins to make up ground in the division, as the next team they play that currently has a winning record isn’t until Dec. 11 when they face the Chargers.

Bears and Lions BrownsThe next five opponents for Dolphins are 49ers, Texans and 49ers.

Both teams were susceptible to the pass this season, so field days are expected for both. Tyreek Hill Jaylen Waddle. Amon-Ra St. BrownHe is also in a good position, depending on whether he can continue playing after sustaining a concussion during Sunday’s game against the Cowboys.

Can the Arizona Cardinals improve their 2022 season? Kyler Murray and his Cardinals team won the crucial victory over the Saints on Thursday. Now they face the NFC North-leading Vikings. Minnesota is a small favorite in the match to avenge its 34-33% loss to the Cards 2021.

DeAndre Hopkins and the Cardinals are back. At least, that’s what the Cards hope is the case as they get ready to travel to U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis for a 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff at FOX against the Vikings. The star wide receiver’s 10-catch, 103-yard performance in Week 7 led the Cardinals back into the win column and back firmly in the mix for an NFC West title. They’ll need to be extra sharp on both sides of the ball on Sunday when they take on the Vikings, who will have had an additional week to prepare.

Minnesota’s extra week of preparation came from a Week 7 bye. Hopefully, the additional time off doesn’t stop the roll they were on for the Vikings’ sake. When Minnesota takes on Kyler Murray and the Cardinals, it’ll have a chance to notch its fifth win in a row for the first time since the 2017 NFL season.

The Las Vegas Raiders can turn around their season by playing the New Orleans Saints on Sunday. The Raiders are slightly less than a field goal favorite on the road, and they are hoping to win their third consecutive game.

Kickoff will take place at 1 p.m. ET Sunday, New Orleans It will be broadcast on CBS.

After a 0-3 start, the Raiders have won 2 of their 3 games and now enter a 4-game stretch in which they should be fairly favored. This stretch includes games against New Orleans (2-5), Jacksonville (5-2), and Atlanta (2-5). IndianapolisDenver (2-5), (3-3-1). These are not only the worst teams, but also the most offensive. The Raiders still have a chance to get back in the playoff race, despite how disappointing the AFC West has been outside of Kansas City. If they are able to take care business in this stretch,

Although the Saints have been plagued by injuries on offense recently, they have managed to score points. The issue has been on defense, where they have been one of the league’s worst teams and are simply bleeding points against, allowing 28.6 points per game. This includes 104 against in the three previous games.

Despite all this, the Saints remain just one game behind the NFC South’s first-place team.

The over/under for Sunday’s game is set at 49.5, while both teams have consistently hit the over all season. The Raiders have won it in four of six of their six games, while Saints have managed it in five of seven.

The Philadelphia Eagles and Pittsburgh Steelers will face off on Sunday during the early portion of the NFL’s Week 8 slate. As the league’s lone unbeaten team, the Eagles are heavily favored to beat the Steelers (2-5).

Sunday’s Eagles-Steelers kicks off at 1:00 p.m. ET at Lincoln Financial Field, Philadelphia. It’ll be televised by CBS. Jalen Hurts’ MVP campaign (+450 at BetMGM) will continue forward as the Eagles’ home crowd aids Philadelphia in its quest to remain atop the NFC. Hurts has already thrown over 1,500 yards this season. He’s also rushed for six touchdowns.

The Steelers find themselves in a difficult position. With a rookie quarterback running the show, they’re putting forth one of the NFL’s worst offenses, which has continuously come up short every week. But the Steelers do already have two upset wins on the season, and if there’s a chance for them to steal another on Sunday, they’ll likely have a chance to do so during the second half of Sunday’s game. Philly’s averaging less than six second-half points per game through Week 7 and has shown it’ll get complacent while playing with leads. Pittsburgh may have something there, if it’s patient enough.

Sunday’s match between the Patriots and the Jets is at 1 p.m. ET at MetLife Stadium on CBS, it’ll be in a position that’s uncommon for New England – last place in the AFC East. The Patriots are still a slight favorite despite their short week and the Jets’ 5-2 record.

But the question is – who will be the quarterback for the Pats come Sunday? Patriots fans chanted for “Zappe” after Mac JonesAfter sustaining an ankle injury, he returned to the Bears and was struggling against them. Bailey ZappeHe led a touchdown drive but also threw two interceptions during the game. This was after the initial excitement from ZappeMania.

It’s the Patriots, so things will be under wraps until just before kick-off for who will be starting.

The Jets’ defense allows six yards per pass attempt, but the Patriots, who have the fifth-best completion percentage in the league, average the third-highest yards per attempt (8) in the league.

But as critical as we can be about New England’s offense, we have to be the same about the Jets, too. They lost Breece HallFor the season to a torn anterior cruciate ligament, and while the acquisition James Robinson from Jacksonville helps, it’s a big blow to a team that is a half-game behind the Bills in the division. The Patriots have allowed eighth most rushing yards this season.

Zach Wilson hasn’t thrown a touchdown – or interception, for that matter – since his first game of the season in Week 4 against the Steelers. He’s averaged just 21.6 attempts over his last three weeks as the Jets have been riding Hall, Michael CarterBraxton Berrios won four consecutive wins.

The Tennessee Titans have not been overly impressive in any aspect this season, but thanks to a four-game winning streak, they still find themselves in the driver’s seat for the AFC South. They will be looking to continue that winning streak in Houston on Sunday, where they are almost a field goal favorite.

Kickoff will take place at 4:05 p.m. ET from Houston. The game will be broadcast on CBS.

Overall, the Titans seem to have taken a huge step back from last year when they were the AFC’s top-seed. Derrick HenryThis was a rather pedestrian experience. Ryan TannehillHe is solid, but not spectacular, and the offense has never scored more than 24 points in any one game. They’re putting up ugly, low-scoring wins every way possible. It’s not pretty but it works.

They will be playing four road games, including difficult games at Kansas City and Green Bay. Given that stretch, Sunday’s game at Houston is one they can not afford to let slip away.

The Texans are among the worst teams in the league, and they don’t excel in any one area. Their defense is their strength and it has helped create another low-scoring Titans game.

Neither team has consistently hit the over this season, and Sunday’s over/under is set at 40.5 points. This is a mark the teams have only reached six times this season.

Two of the NFL’s more surprising teams of the 2022 season will meet in Week 8 when the New York Giants travel to the Pacific Northwest for a matchup with the Seattle Seahawks. The Seahawks will enter Sunday’s contest as slight favorites.

The Giants are in good shape and hope to keep it that way when the head to Lumen Field, Seattle for a 4 :25 p.m. match. FOX will broadcast the ET kickoff. If the Giants win Sunday, it would be their fifth straight win under Brian Daboll as head coach. He has his team just one game away from first in an extremely competitive NFC East division. New York’s run-heavy offense, led by Daniel Jones and Saquon BarkleyThis game will be against a Seattle defense which gives up less than 140 yards of rushing per game.

Your NFC West leader through seven weeks of football is Pete Carroll’s Seattle Seahawks. They’re getting the job done in a variety of ways — sometimes through the air, sometimes via the ground, and occasionally with their defense. It’s hard to know which team will show up, but that’s what makes the Seahawks so interesting. They’ll have a chance for three-straight wins on Sunday.

It’ll be a battle of backups turned starting quarterbacks Sunday when Taylor HeinickeAnd the Commanders take it on Sam EhlingerColts.

After back-toback wins, the Commanders now travel to Indianapolis to take on the Colts Sunday afternoon at 4:25 p.m. FOX at Lucas Oil Stadium ET After a game against the Jags that saw them score high, the Colts lost to the Titans in an offensive failure. They are now just a few goals ahead of the Titans at home.

Major changes will be made to the Colts’ team as Ehlinger was named the starter for the remainder of the season. Ryan struggled against the Titans throwing two picks and being sacked three additional times.

The Colts’ quarterback change comes at an important time. They are currently a game and half behind the Titans in the wide-open AFC South. The Colts currently have only one divisional match and have the third-worst AFC scoring differential (-27).

As the backups play, you can expect to see both teams establish the run. The Commanders will then turn to the 1-2 punch. Antonio Gibson Brian RobinsonWhile the Colts will focus on getting, Jonathan TaylorHis second game back was more intense.
The Under of 41 might be the safest option. The Colts have eclipsed 20 points just twice this season, while the Commanders haven’t scored more than 23 points in a game since Week 2. Given the QB situation this could be a low scorer game.

The NFC West is wide open this year, and Sunday’s San Francisco 49ers vs. Los Angeles Rams game could be a pivotal one in that race. Despite playing on the road and a two-game losing streak, the 49ers are still considered a slight favourite (less than a field point) against the defending Super Bowl champions.

Kickoff will take place at 4:25 p.m. ET Sunday at SoFi Stadium FOX will broadcast it.

The 49ers have one of the league’s most talented rosters on paper and recently added another playmaker in a blockbuster trade with the Carolina Panthers to add Christian McCaffery to improve its backfield. Combined with one of the league’s best defenses, the 49ers look like a Super Bowl contender at nearly every position on the field.

One exception is at the quarterback Jimmy GaroppoloThis is the single significant question and clearly the weakest link.

Question marks regarding the quarterback position Matthew Stafford has taken a huge step backward for the Rams and actually enters Sunday’s game with two more interceptions (eight) than touchdown passes (six), while also being sacked 22 times. Just for comparison’s sake, he was only sacked 22 times in 17 regular season games a year ago while throwing 41 touchdowns. He has just 17 touchdowns and more than 60 tackles for the season.

Overall, the Rams’ offense has been one of the worst in the league, and it now has to go up against a 49ers defense that has been outstanding all year, except for Sunday’s loss to Kansas City and Patrick Mahomes.

The 49ers won their previous meeting, 24-9. They had a dominant defensive effort, including a pick-six by Stafford in the fourth quarter that sealed the victory.

Sunday’s Packers-Bills matchup features two teams trending in completely opposite directions. The Packers have lost three straight games and will be heading to Buffalo as a double-digit favorite. Aaron Rodgers is this big of an underdog in his first season.

Fresh off of a bye week, the Bills are rested and ready to continue showing why they have the league’s best odds to win this season’s championship. They’ll get to do so in front of Bills Mafia in Orchard Park beginning at 8:20 p.m. ET on NBC. As seen by the spread, a loss to Green Bay would be a bad one, but there’s no reason to believe that arguably the NFL’s best offense and defense will have a hard time dealing with Green Bay.

The Packers come into Sunday night’s contest riding three consecutive losses for the first time in four years. Neither the offense nor defense have impressed throughout the year, and their combined middle-of-the-road units have led to what’s become a pretty mediocre football team. Green Bay’s three losses have come to the Giants, Jets and Commanders.

Although this matchup isn’t as exciting as it was in the preseason we get to see Josh Allen vs. Aaron Rodgers.

Cincinnati will look to continue to creep up in the scary AFC North as they’ll travel to Cleveland for a Halloween edition of “Monday Night Football” at 8:15 p.m. ET at FirstEnergy Stadium, ESPN.

After a dominating win over the Falcons, the Bengals are a field-goal favorite on the road at Cleveland – a city they haven’t won in since 2017.
