Ex-Snap employees describe ‘overwhelming’ outreach from Big Tech Recruiters

Readers, it’s the top of the morning I’m your host, Jordan Parker Erb. You may recall Snap’s shocking surprise to employees a few weeks back. 20% reduction in staff?

Well now, some of those laid-off employees are having trouble keeping up with demand from recruiters — and some say they’ve received reachouts from More than 70 companies.

  • Snap laid off employees in September, following a slowdown in hiring earlier in 2022. Snap has been experiencing a slowdown in hiring. The mass layoffsSome teams saw their budgets cut by up to 40% 
  • Former employees who lost their jobs told Insider they had received many messages from recruiters as they tried to find work. One person claimed they received over 100 LinkedIn connections and 75 invitations to interview for jobs with recruiters.
  • Another laid off worker said the lucrative perks that lured them into the industry simply aren’t worth the instability for now — and that they aren’t “looking to jump right back into tech at all.”

7. Some iPhone 14 Pro users have issues using social media apps with their camera. Reddit, Twitter, and TikTok users have shared videos of their cameras shaking and rattling during use of apps like Snapchat and TikTok.
