People are usually friendly, helpful, and polite when we move to new places. Sergeant Chris Duke was fighting in Afghanistan for his country when he encountered the three charming locals. Three stray dogs lived in the area: Sasha and Target, as well as Rufus. These pets proved to be more that just nice. These pets proved to be life-savers.

One night, a suicide bomber tried entering Sergeant Duke’s barracks. Sasha and Rufus began barking and attacked the intruder. Although the bomber did blow himself up, it left the dogs with injuries. However, they saved 50 soldiers. Sasha was injured and had to be put to sleep, but Target and Rufus were able to return to their health.
When Duke returned home, he couldn’t stop thinking about the dogs that saved his life. He wrote a letter to a veteran’s assistance group called ‘Hope For The Warriors’ in which he requested their help in bringing the dogs to the USA to live.

Because of this request, the organization raised over $21,000 to help Rufus, Target, and Duke return to America. It is sure to touch your heartstrings when you hear about their reunion!
