Evan Peters, actor, stayed in Jeffrey Dahmer’s character for several months to prepare for the role.

Evan Peters, actor, said that he was terrified to play the role of serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer. Netflix series “Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story.”

“I went back and forth about whether or not I should do it. Peters stated that he knew the task would be difficult and dark. 

Ryan Murphy, Richard Jenkins, and Niecy Nah were among the other panelists. 

Peters explained that he watched Dahmer’s 1994 interview on “Dateline” to “dive into the psychology of that extreme side of human behavior.”

According to Murphy, Peters had worn lead weights around his arms and lifts in his shoes for the four months of preparation and six months of shooting film to mimic Dahmer’s physicality.

Murphy said that he “basically kept in this type of character, as difficult and it was for months.”

Peters claimed that Dahmer had a straight back. He doesn’t move his arms when he walks, so I put weights on my arms to see what that felt like.” 

Peters stated that he wore the shoes with lifts, his jeans and glasses. He also said that he always had a cigarette in his hand. “I wanted all of this stuff, these external items, to be second-nature when we were filming, so I watched lots of footage and worked with a coach in dialect to get his voice down. He spoke in a distinct way and had a dialect.

He said, “So, I also created this 45-minute audio composition, which was very beneficial.” I listened every day to that audio composite in hopes of learning his speech patterns. But really, it was to try to understand his mindset and how he felt each day. It was an exhaustive search, trying to find private moments, times where he didn’t seem self-conscious, so you could get a glimpse into how he behaved prior to these interviews and being in prison.”

Nash pointed out that Peters had approached her at the Beginning of filmingHe said hello, and I realized that he was “in the process of” it.

“I wanted it to be respected, and I wanted to keep it there,” she stated. “This is very heavy, so I prayed for your salvation a lot. And when you stay in it, and you’re tethered to the material, like bone to marrow, your soul is troubled at some point. I could feel him getting tired. I just said, ‘Well, I’m just gonna make sure I keep him in my prayers, because this is a lot and he wants to do it justice.'”
