Erik ten Hag says Man United’s win against Omonia wasn’t the most important takeaway from result

Erik ten Hag says Manchester United’s win against Omonia Nicosia wasn’t the most important takeaway from the result, highlighting a handful of missed opportunities.

United scraped a 1-0 victory at Old Trafford, with substitute Scott McTominay scoring a late winner in the 93rd minute to seal all three points for Ten Hag’s team.

Although the home team had plenty of opportunities and took 34 shots throughout the match, they only converted one opportunity.

While Ten Hag was disappointed his team couldn’t score more goals, he praised his squad for the amount of openings they created.

Asked if the win was the most important thing to take from the game, he said to BT Sport: “No.

“Football is about scoring goals and we created so many chances. We were happy that we found the net only once.

“They did (kept faith in the process) and that’s why they scored. I must compliment the team.
