Manchester United’s Anthony Martial is still out of action due to a back injury, but Christian Eriksen is expected to take on former Tottenham teammate.
Red Devils boss Erik ten Hag has provided an update on the fitness of his squad ahead of Wednesday’s crunch clash at Old Trafford.
Martial was not there Newcastle draws 0-0On Sunday, due to the back issue he suffered in the hospital, Everton wins by 2-1.
EriksenAfter a bout with sickness, he was unable to attend the Magpies’ match.
And United struggled in the midfielder’s absence as they lacked creativity in the final third of the pitch.
Eriksen is also available for Ten Hag to face, which is a huge boost SpursHe played 305 times with, between 2013 and 2020.
Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Ten Hag said: “Anthony MartialThis is not an option
“He’s back on the pitch but not in the team training.
“Christian Eriksen returned in the team training today.
“And we have to see how that works out, how he will recover, if he has the energy tomorrow, so we have to wait for that.”
Ten Hag revealed that Harry Maguire (Donny van de Beek), Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Harry Maguire are all close to making a comeback, with each of them currently injured.
He remarked: “They are making good progress all (of them). They will all return in team training this week.”
The Dutch gaffer also insisted there isn’t a problem with Cristiano RonaldoAfter being replaced against Newcastle, the Portugal international seemed to be glum.
He stated: “I think no player is happy when he comes off and especially not Ronaldo. That is what I get.
“As long as it’s a quiet normal way, no problem with that.
“Of course he has the convincement he should stay on and he should score a goal. That’s why he is that good.”
