  • The Irish Times reported that Twitter’s public policy vice president had called Elon Musk to discuss job cuts.
  • Sinead McCSweeney claimed in a court filing that Musk stated that he “didn’t want assholes” at Twitter.
  • Musk said to her that she told her fired employees they could be reinstated if “not negative” and “excellent”.

An executive at Twitter claimed that Elon Musk told her that he did not want any “assholes” on his team, and that the fired staff could be reinstated provided they are “not negatively”, Irish Times report

Sinead McCSweeney stated, according to the newspaper, that “He accepted the fact that people might be talented but could impact the team negatively”

The comments were made by Twitter’s global vice president for public policy in a statement she submitted to the High Court of Dublin to seek an injunction stopping her from being fired.

The Irish-based executive stated that she spoke to Musk by phone on November 13, as well as other senior associates, about the company’s job cuts and the company.

Musk informed McSweeney, that employees who were “excellent”, should be fired. As long as they “not negativity” and “critically” perform, the report recommends that they be reinstated.

According to the Irish Times report, Musk’s comments temporarily reassured the executive who also heads the company’s global philanthropic efforts. However, he learned two days later that the public policies team would be cut by five.

McSweeney, who was granted injunction Friday, stated she hadn’t resigned and was still restricted from company systems. This was after Musk didn’t reply to her ultimatum email.

Musk Send an email to Twitter employees at midnighton November 16, telling them to subscribe to an “extremely toughcore” culture by clicking the link in the email or to be deemed to be unsigned.

McSweeney declined to reply, claiming that the terms in the email were unclear. This left her uncertain about her employment status. The injunction will remain in effect until further notice by the court.

Insider requested comment from McSweeney or Twitter but they didn’t respond immediately.
