Elon Musk on Friday evening asked Twitter users to weigh in on a controversial thought experiment via poll: Reinstate former President Trump,” Musk tweeted, with a “yes” and “no” option.
Nearly 3 million people responded to the poll as of 6:30 p.m. PST, with almost 60% of respondents voting “yes”

Musk’s original tweet stated, “Vox Populi Vox Dei,” which is a Latin phrase that roughly translates to “the Voice of the People is the Voice of God”.
Musk’s thoughts come as Twitter’s future hangs in doubt. The offices of the company were suddenly shut downThursday, employees began to quit en masse.
Trump was banned by TwitterFollowing the Capitol Riot, Trump was suspended indefinitely in January 2021. He cited “the danger of further incitement to violence.” Conservatives decried the permanent suspension and Trump eventually started Truth Social, his rival network.
Musk stated in May that he would Trump’s account reinstatedFollowing his acquisition of the company he called the decision to ban the former President “morally wrong” and “flat out stupid”.
Musk, however, said Friday that he had made a decision regarding Trump’s account. Not yetEven though accounts belonging to controversial academic Jordan Peterson and right-wing satirical website The Babylon Bee were reinstated, as well as comedian Kathy Griffin, they were not removed.
It is unclear how the reinstatements are decided. Musk also stated Friday that he will not be reinstating the right-wing radio host and conspiracist. Alex Jones.
Trump said He won’t go back to TwitterEven if his account gets reinstated, he still prefers Truth Social.
“I’m staying on Truth. Trump said, “I like it more, I like how it works, Elon likes it, but I am staying on Truth.” Fox News last month.
