Vancouver’s trade is a reflection of how hard moving inefficient salary is in today’s cap climate. The Canucks genuinely value Stillman, but make no mistake, the high draft pick was the sweetener necessary to dump Dickinson’s contract, which carried a $2.65 million cap hit through this season and next.

First, most people will agree that Dickinson was overrated. The 27-year old was purchased last offseason by the StarsDallas faces a tough time ahead of a third round pick Seattle’s expansion draft. Although he was supposed to be a defensive third-line center, he struggled tremendously.
