Dr. Oz Loans Pennsylvania Senate Campaign $1 Million More

  • New FEC filings reveal that Dr. Oz has loaned $1 million more to his Senate campaign.

Federal campaign documents show that Mehmet Oz, the Pennsylvania Republican Senate candidate, borrowed $1 million more to his campaign. Filed Thursday.

Oz, a former TV personality, has used his personal finances to support his bid for the Senate. According to Federal Election Commission records, he previously loaned $7million to his campaign in the third quarter. This ended in September. 

Oz has raised $9 million and contributed $22 million to his campaign.

Oz’s opponent is Democratic Lt. According to Federal Election Commission records John Fetterman raised $22 million for the third quarter of 2022.

The Fetterman campaign had raised nearly $48million and spent approximately $43.8 million. There was also nearly $4.2 million in cash available. Small donations have been the key to the Democratic nominee’s fundraising success. Nearly half of those who contributed less than $200.

Oz spent $32.3 million on his purchases and took in $34.8 millions. He also had $2.5 million cash. About a third (33%) of Oz’s donors gave less than $200.

Fetterman had a healthy lead during most of the summer but the race has become tighter in recent weeks.

Fetterman currently holds a 2.2% average leadOver Oz on FiveThirtyEight with the Democrat averaging 46.6% and Oz at 44.4% in the most recent polls.

In a state won in 2016 by President Donald Trump, and in 2020 by Vice-President Joe Biden, the contest could determine which party controls the majority of seats in the United States Senate.

The tiebreaking vote by Vice President Kamala Harris has given Democrats control of the evenly-divided Senate.

Trump supported Oz in the GOP primary, which helped him win over his closest rival, a former hedge fund executive. David McCormick.

Fetterman, who was mayor of Braddock in Braddock before he was elected lieutenant governor in 2018, focuses his campaign around working-class voters all across the state.
