Donald Trump was once paid rent in Gold Bars

  • According to a new book, Donald Trump was once paid with gold bars for the leasing of a parking lot.
  • Maggie Haberman, New York Times reporter, reported that the gold bars were delivered to Trump Tower.
  • Trump was unable to control the bars and it is not clear what happened, according to Haberman.

Former President Donald Trump received a stack of gold bars as payment for his business activities in New York.

Maggie Haberman, New York Times journalist, wrote this story in “Confidence Man: the Making of Donald Trump and The Breaking of America.” A portion of this excerpt was made available exclusively to CNNThis strange payment was made to Trump in order to pay the cost of renting a garage in the General Motors Building in New York. Trump purchased the building in 1998.

CNN reports that Haberman stated that Trump did not know how to handle the many gold bars that were sent to him. They were eventually wheeled to Trump Tower’s apartment, but it isn’t clear what happened afterward.

Haberman also recalls in the CNN excerpt that Trump was once asked about the gold bars. He responded by calling it “fantasy”

Insider reached out to Trump’s post-presidential office for clarification but was not immediately able to respond.

Haberman’s account is just one of many strange revelations about Trump’s business past that have been made in recent months.

This month, for example, an excerpt from a book by New York Times reporter David Enrich — titled “Servants of Damned – Giant Law Firms, Donald Trump, and the Corruption of Justice” — recounted how Trump attempted to pay $2 Million in legal fees to an attorney once with the deed for a stallion

According to Enrich, Trump — who was then a real-estate businessman — had failed to pay his bills. Trump was confronted by an angry lawyer and pulled out a “deed for a horse” and said that it was “more valuable than the fees”.
