Austin and Sofie, a lovely German shepherd puppy, have been best buddies since Sofie was just a puppy.
“She loves him so much,” Ally Ross, Sofie’s mom, told The Dodo.
Because of their personal circumstances, Sofie had to spend some time with Austin this year.
Austin is part of the United States. Armed Forces. He was called up in January for a six-month deployment. He had to cancel his usual schedule and stop loving Sofie and enjoying himself.
Sofie couldn’t really understand it.
“After he left, she would still go into our bedroom and look for him,” Ross said.
Thankfully, Austin wouldn’t be gone permanently.
After completing his assignment, Austin was able return home last month. Ross made the decision to capture the moment he knocked on Sofie’s door to surprise her.
The dog was about for completeness.
Sofie couldn’t believe her eyes when the door opened.
Sofie’s shock swiftly gave way to a flurry of love and enthusiasm. It was a reflection of what Sofie’s spirit yearned to experience every single day that Austin was gone.
“Oh, I definitely cried!” Ross said.
Her dad has returned. Their family is now complete.
It’s back to normal for Austin and Sofie now that he’s back, and how wonderful it is.
“Now that he’s home, they go on runs and adventures together,” Ross said. “Best buds for sure.”
