Dog finds forever home after being abandoned and bloodied in Lexington

Fritz, a dog who was left unattended and bloody at Lexington Humane Society earlier in the week, has now been adopted legally!

LHS’s Facebook page stated that Fritz, who was left overnight at the facility, and was found bleeding profusely on Monday by workers, was likened with a couch hippo (and also the hippo born at the Cincinnati Zoo this summer).

He received quick medical attention from LHS’s medical staff, who discovered he had a prolapsed urethra.

“Throughout his examination and prep for surgery, he never stopped wagging his tail and trying to lick his rescuers. He was one happy, happy hippo knowing help had arrived,” the post said.

Fritz’s happy ending came true on Friday when he was adopted.

“What we do know is Fritz now feels great, looks great, and is one hungry, hungry hippo thanks to our life-saving care,” the post added.
