Dog and one of six stolen puppies reunited

Godiva, a one-year-old mother, gave rise to seven puppies early in August. They were all placed in foster homes to ensure they had a chance to spend their critical growth period together. HRA was contacted by a woman who had found a dog abandoned and tied to a pole. The dog was later identified as Godiva.

The litter was taken at the earliest possible age, 3.5 weeks. According to HRA the litter may have been sold, or given to unsuspecting buyers.

Humane law enforcement performed a search warrant for the property that was believed to have been sheltering the litter. One of the seven puppies were found. The mother and the single puppy were reunited.

After seeing the news coverage, someone gave another dog to HRA September 15.

Aries, the dog, was reunited with Glitter, his sister and mother, in a video released by HRA. It showed them having fun in a backyard.

HRA wrote to WUSA9 that both their siblings would benefit from being together in their childhoods and would be able to avoid the pain of losing their mother. We fervently desire this for Godiva’s remaining puppies, who have been deprived of it.

A reward will be offered to the person who reported Aries. For information about puppies under 5 weeks of age, the HRA will pay a reward up to $7500.

“We’re hoping this will encourage others who might know more to come forward for the sake of the puppies’ welfare as well as the safety of our neighborhood and staff.”
