Dog-and-human couples gather to attempt to break the largest dog wedding world record

Chicagoland is full of love.

Northwestern Medicine Field in Geneva will host the event to attempt to beat the record for largest dog wedding ceremony.

According to an announcement at the upcoming event, the current record, which was set 15 years ago in Littleton Colorado, it is 178 married dogs couples. The effort to break the record is the organizer’s second.

Although the ceremony did not set a new record for most dog couples in 2021 it raised money for many animal rescue groups.

Diamonds in the Ruff is the title of the effort to have the largest dog wedding on Sunday. In addition to helping canine couple in their relationship, the event hopes to raise $100,000 for K9s for Warriors as well as other service animal organisations and local animal rescue groups. K9s For Warriors is a charity that matches veterans with service dogs.

The ceremony will include a red carpet, processional music, and champagne toast, but the champagne will be replaced with pet-friendly goat’s milk from The Honest Kitchen. Pet Supplies Plus sponsors the event.

Live music, entertaining freebies, and a PEOPLE photo booth will also be present at Diamonds in the Ruff so that the attendees’ canines can pose for pictures with famous people.

Dogs can be paired up with their pup mates without the need for a mate. Registering dogs for the event by themselves will result in a pairing with another animal seeking a companion.
