Diego Costa gets standing ovation from Chelsea fans as Armando Broja nets first Blues goal to stake claim as the club’s next top striker after Kai Havertz effort during Mason Mount masterclass

Wolves’ Diego Costa was given a standing ovation by Chelsea fans as their new school of strikers, Kai Havertz and Armando Broja, stated their claim.

Broja scored his first goal in a Blues jersey to complete the scoring in a 3-0 victory. Mason Mount had led his side in a healthy lead with assists from Havertz and Christian Pulisic.

The England midfielder was on top form, scoring two goals for his team.

The ex-Spanish international player was a Stamford Bridge fixture from 2014 to 2017, and was a rare centre-forward signing success.

Costa won two Premier League titles, and a Golden Boot. He succeeded where Alvaro Morata, Fernando Torres, and Romelu Likaku failed.

Fans erupted in applause when he left pitch in the 57th minute.

Soon, however, the focus shifted to whether he can ever replace him on the pitch. Havertz had earlier staked his claim with a perfectly-placed header, demonstrating his many tools.

Graham Potter had something to be thankful for when Broja, a returning loanee, gave him something to think about. He finished the job with an impressively executed finish over Jose Sa.

But the performance was all down to Mount

Mount was the real star of the show.

The 21 year-old Albanian managed six league goals last season while on loan at Southampton. Potter is now back with him.

He wasn’t the only one though, with the former Brighton coach’s new look line-up and formation beginning to click in their best performance yet during a three-game winning streak.
