DeSantis explains the ‘huge underperformance of’ GOP in election campaign

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantisAt a Thursday press conference, he spoke out about the Republican Party’s “huge failure” in the midterm elections. He explained why his re-election win was so dominant and the GOP nationwide only a narrow House majority. The GOP failed to take control of the Senate.

DeSantis has been called the “The Republican” by some Republicans. The party’s new “head of the table”After his almost 20-point win, he was asked his thoughts about former President Trump’s return to the news each day and the perceived divisions within the GOP. Although he may challenge Trump in 2024 as governor, he did not respond to Trump’s potential primary opponent, but he did address the idea that Republicans are divided.

DeSantis stated that “we assumed we would end up with like 245 House Members, but we’re now at 222 which looks like which is a huge overperformance.” “The question is: why did it happen?”

He noted that historical trends favor Republicans, and that President Biden’s popularity and widespread belief were both reasons for his unpopularity. The country is headed in the wrong directionsShould have resulted in huge GOP gains at Congress

“I think what we’ve done in Florida is we’ve shown that we’ve exercised leadership, we’ve not kowtowed, we’ve been willing to take on big interests … but producing results, and then that ends up attracting more people to want to be on your team,” DeSantis said.
