You can apply for a Delta Amex cardWhen you click on the link, you will be asked to enter your Delta SkyMiles Number (if you don’t have one, it’s an option). Join for free). As long as the card remains open, all benefits are linked to your SkyMiles Account.
You don’t have to pay with your Delta card for your flight (or any taxes or fees associated with an award ticket), to get your first checked bag completely free.
Just make sure that you’re logged in to your Delta account when booking tickets — or, if you’re booking through a third-party portal like Expedia, just enter your Delta frequent flyer number during the booking process. There will be a $0. charge if you want to add a bag while you are checking in for your flight. This applies to up to 8 passengers who are on the same reservation.
It is important to make sure you are on the same reservation. If you book separately, your travel companions will not be eligible for free checked bags unless they are a Delta credit card holder or have elite Medallion status.
The number of times you may use the free checked bag benefit is unlimited. Cardholders who fly Delta often can enjoy a far greater value than the annual card fee.
Which Amex credit cards are eligible to receive a free Delta checked bag
The only Amex Delta credit card that doesn’t offer a free checked bag is the no-annual-fee Delta SkyMiles® Blue American Express Card. The benefit is available on all other Delta cards:

This benefit is only available to itineraries that begin with a Delta flight or Delta Connection flight. You must check in with Delta and the flight must be marketed and operated by Delta — partner flights aren’t eligible.
The Delta free checked bag benefits are only available to the primary cardholder and not to authorized users. If an authorized user is travelling on the same reservation, they will be eligible for the complimentary bag.
Only normal bags are eligible for the free checked bag benefit. The appropriate fee will be charged if your bag exceeds the weight limit.
It is possible to still add your SkyMiles Number when booking your reservation. By going to “My Trips” on the Delta website, you can add your frequent flyer number and search for your reservation.
Alternativly, you can call Delta reservations to add your SkyMiles Number. But, be aware that wait times can be long.
Delta usually charges $30 for the first bag checked in economy class when you fly to the US. However, the bag must not be overweight or excessively large. Your bag must be under 50 lbs and no more than 62 inches in total length, width, and height to qualify for a Delta credit card free checked bag.
If you have a second bag to check, you’ll be charged a fee of $40 (assuming it’s not oversize/overweight).
