Georgia real estate office manager Debbie Collier’s son is speaking out for the first time after his mother’s shocking deathInvestigators were racing to find a suspect earlier in the month.

Jeffrey Bearden, Collier’s son, told Fox News Digital on Saturday that his mother was the kindest, greatest influence on his life and asked for “respect and privacy” as his family deals with the traumatic news of her murder.

“[I]Bearden wrote that he was writing to ask for privacy during the most difficult and distressing time in my family’s history. “I have been incredibly hurt and disturbed by some of the reporting and information shared regarding the investigation into my mother’s death.”

Deputies from Habersham County found Collier’s remainsHer husband Steven Collier and Amanda Bearden had reported her missing from Clarke County on Sept. 11. She fell down an embankment that day. There had been no arrests as of Saturday evening.

The crime scene report contains disturbing details about her last moments. Investigators found her naked, burned and clutching at an embankment tree, clutching at her stomach. This was a day after she had sent her daughter, 36, a $2385 payment via Venmo and a strange message suggesting she was being held against will. However, investigators publicly denied that she was kidnapped or killed last week.

“I ask that all attention on the tragic story of my mother’s death remain focused on aiding the police investigation,” Jeffrey Bearden said Saturday.

He requested anonymity and that online guesswork be stopped until the police finish their investigation.

“There is no court of public opinion to pursue justice for my mother. This speculation continues being traumatic and hurtful to my family during our most difficult time,” he stated.

Bearden said Saturday, “I will never fully be able to articulate the loss my mother and all that she meant to me.” She was my most constant source of love and support. My mother was an extremely vibrant and strong person. Through her whole life, she was a person who valued kindness and empathy. She was a person who saw beauty and grace in all she encountered.

Collier was a real-estate office manager at Carriage House Realty, her hometown in Athens. Reached by text message, a colleague deferred questions to the office’s main line, where calls went unanswered Saturday.

Bearden stated, “Daily life was full of joy and beauty.” She spent her time making and enjoying art. She loved listening to and dancing along to her favorite music. My mother did not indulge herself in holidays. Her focus was on her family and the joy of being together over a home-cooked meal.

Collier was generous over the holidays, he stated, and every year, “would shower her with thoughtful gifts and gestures.”

Bearden said, “My mother was persistent and loving throughout my life. I will continue to fight for her justice until she is.” Our lives have been forever changed. Our pain is deep and our grief is present. Please respect my privacy as we try to adjust and cope with our loss.
