Dear Andy: Nick Saban ain’t what he used to be! Should pass interference be determined by the throw?

Alabama did the unthinkable and lost a game, and you have questions…

(Submitted questions were lightly edited to improve clarity and length.

While I have no reason for Nick Saban to be considered the G.O.A.T. just ain’t what he used to be. This isn’t because Alabama lost a game. It’s become a daily issue, no matter how you lose.

No one will, or should, tell him when to move on, but if the team continues to look like it has with penalties, turnovers and other performance-related issues, I’m not buying the “blame it on the coordinators” thing.

Alabama is still able to perform at a level that would make it wildly successful in other places. And yet, many — likely most — Alabama fans aren’t going to be happy unless they are SEC champions, and/or making the College Football Playoff. At what point might it be in Saban’s best interest to enjoy autumn at his place on the lake?

It is understandable that not all writers will want to address this question. Saban is not shy about throwing his weight around, which is one reason I won’t mind seeing him step aside someday. He has done a great job of overcoming unbridled success. I hope to at least generate some comments. — Michael

Oh, Michael, Michael, Michael.

“I understand if no writer is going to want to touch this question,” you wrote.
