Daylight Savings Time 2022 has ended. Let’s do away with it now. Here’s how.

This is the end of Daylight Savings for 2022. Sunday mornings are always a joy because you get an extra hour of sleep.

Catching up on sleep each November, however, is the only good thing that comes with Daylight Saving or DST (it’s singular, not plural, by the way).

Jumping forward and falling back can cause havoc with train and airline schedules, confuse people, and cost money. It also causes delays and accidents.

EXPERTS SAY PERMANENT DAYLIGHT SAVING MAY BE HARMFUL FOR OUR HEALTH.

Every time we change the clock, more traffic fatalities happen because motorists are too tired to drive safely.

Daylight Saving is hated by parents because it means their children have to walk or cycle to school in darkness.

DST is a sham for farmers because it forces cows to milk one hour earlier than usual.

Do you remember having that kinda conversation with a cow?

Forget cows. Your body doesn’t like to move an hour forward or backward. It’s like getting jet lag even though you didn’t even get to travel anywhere. A lot of people require a week to reset their circadian rhythms, their internal time clocks.

Although Ben Franklin is credited with inventing Daylight Savings, the concept was adopted by Germany first during World War I to conquer Europe.

We all know what happened.

Why should we keep DST? Studies show that DST saves energy because we do more on summer evenings than in the mornings. Of course, now you need more energy in winter mornings, when it’s darker longer, so there goes that argument.

Some believe that there are fewer pedestrians killed due to longer days. DST is actually a factor in pedestrian and bicyclist deaths. This is because there are more people outside during the evenings when DST is more prevalent.

Daylight Savings is now over.

Tuesday is election day. In January, a new Congress will take office. Here’s a bit of bipartisanship that can get the new session off on the right foot: eliminate DST now and forever.

This is the first piece legislation on which all voters can agree.

Passing the bill might even improve Congress’ dismal reputation in the eyes of the electorate.
