David De Gea has revealed he would like to stay at Manchester United due to being ‘really, really’ happy’ at the club.
The Spanish goalkeeperThe club is in uncertain financial health with Old Trafford’s contract due to expire at end of current season.
While UnitedDe Gea does have the option of extending his stay for another year. De Gea is also one of the highest-earning members at the club. This means that a decision needs to be made as to whether he merits an extended stay on comparable wages.
De Gea has been with the club for more than 10 years. After Sunday’s 2-1 win against Everton,The player expressed his gratitude for playing for the club.
Speaking to BT Sport, he said: “We controlled the game until maybe the last 10 minutes.
“It was massive for our confidence, we have to look forward to the next games. It’s an honour to be here, it’s a privilege.
“It was great to be in goal today, with the team fighting for three points.”
Quizzed further on his future, De Gea added: I’m just very focused on the games helping the team as much as I can.
“Of course, I would like to be here for more years, so let’s see what happens in the future. I’m really, really happy here.”
De Gea was signed by Sir Alex Ferguson from Atletico Madrid in 2011 for £18.9m. He was a member of the last Premier League title winning United side and has also been awarded the Fans’ Player of the Year four times.
