Dallas airshow collision victim identified as former Keller City Councilman and U.S. Army veteran

Keller Mayor Armin MIzani identified one among the six victims of a collision between historic buildings Military planesTerry Barker, a U.S. Army vet and former Keller City Councilman, will speak on Saturday. 

“Terry Barker is a beloved friend. “He was a friend, and someone whose advice I often sought,” Mizani wrote on Sunday in a tribute for Barker. “Even though he was no longer a member of the City Council or flies for American Airlines, his love and devotion to community was still evident.” 

Saturday afternoon, a B-17 Flying Fortress bomber collided with a P-63 Kingcobra fighter aircraft during a collision. Wings Over Dallas air show, which bills itself as “America’s Premier World War II Airshow.”

The event was set for November 11-13. Veterans Day weekendIncluded more than 40 World War 11-era planes. 

“Yesterday [Barker]Mayor Mizani stated Sunday that he was flying to honor “the greatest generation.” “Today, Keller Town Hall’s Field of Honor will be standing for an additional week in his honour.”

Keller is a suburb in Fort Worth, about 30 miles north of the crash site on Saturday.

According to the Allied Pilots Association which represents American Airlines pilots Barker and Len Root were both members of their union. 

Video footage of the collision showed that the P-63 fighter aircraft crashed into the B-17 bomber. Both aircraft were sent to the ground, igniting an explosion.

Clay Jenkins, Dallas County Judge, stated that authorities were still working on Sunday to identify the deceased and notify their next-of-kin. There were no injuries to anyone on the ground. 

The investigation into the accident is being led by the National Transportation Safety Board.
