Conor McGregor’s friend gives him a multimillion-dollar suit in exchange for whiskey royalties

Artem Lobov, an ex fighter, is suing a friend Conor McGregorHe claimed that he came up with the Proper No. Twelve whiskey brands.

McGregor and two of his partners sold a majority share to Proximo Spirits last year for $600 million. Lobov is looking for a Percentage of the profits.

McGregor and Lobov had previously trained together.

Dermot McNamara (lobov’s attorney) told The Irish Independent that Lobov contributed to the brand’s birth.

“My client, a retired professional fighter, has a master’s degree in DCU. Finance and capital markets,” McNamara said. “We have initiated High Court proceedings in his name to enforce an agreement with McGregor concerning the Proper No. Twelve whiskey brands. My client was the co-founder and original creator of the idea to launch an Irish whiskey label associated with Mr. McGregor. These matters are currently before the court. We will not make any comment.

Lobov stated that he had made a deal to purchase whiskey distillery and presented it McGregor in an interview.

“The selling point for my book will be this: Proper 12 Whiskey story. A few people may not know that this was actually my idea. Lobov stated that I was the one who suggested the idea of making whiskey for Conor.

“Once the deal was ready, I went to Conor and I said, ‘Conor, I have the deal ready for you. This is going to be a billion-dollar deal, no messing here.’ I’m not sure if he took me seriously or not at the time with the billion dollars. As you can see, we worked on it. I’m really happy to see that, and I’m really happy to be a part of it.”

Lobov also stated that he declined McGregor’s offer of $1 million. The lawsuitLobov states that he is seeking 5% from the 2021 sale. This would amount to $30 million.

McGregor did not comment on the lawsuit.

Representative for UFCStar claimed that The Irish Independent Lobov’s claims weren’t true.

“Proper No. Conor McGregor created, developed and marketed twelve Irish whiskeys,” spokeswoman Karen J. Kessler in a statement.
