China’s Xi Jinping grabs more power, pushing Asia closer to war

NEWFox News articles are now available to listen to!

A messianic ruler, already considered the world’s most influential figure, is about to get absolute power over the planet’s most-populous state.

The next chapter will be remembered by generations. Chances are, Chinese President Xi Jinping will lead ChinaIn to war

The drama begins at the Communist Party’s 20th National Congress, which starts Sunday. At the Congress’s first plenum, which convenes immediately after the Congress ends, the members of the new Politburo Standing Committee will be revealed as they walk from behind a curtain. Everyone anticipates that Xi will lead the pack as the ruler for the next five year. Most people believe that Xi will have the ability to exercise almost unlimited power during his term.

What is Xi going to do with this power? Xi wants to, among other things, redraw the globe’s map, using force if necessary. China has increased its efforts to seize territory from the rest of his decade-long tenure in power, especially those who are neighbors. India, Taiwan and Japan.

His ambitions extend far beyond China’s neighborhood, however. Xi is a revolutionary. He uses benign-sounding phrases such as “a community for shared future for humanity”

However, his words conceal incredible ambition. As subordinates make clear, Xi has been promoting the imperial-era notion that Chinese rulers not only had the Mandate of Heaven over tianxia — “All Under Heaven” — but they also had an obligation to rule the world.

“The Chinese have always held that the world is united and all under heaven are one family,” Xi Jinping declared in his 2017 New Year’s Message.

Why stop at Planet Earth? Chinese officials spoke of the moon and Mars in 2018 as Chinese sovereign territory.

At the moment, Taiwan is particularly in Xi’s crosshairs. In March, the Chinese central government, in its Work Report to the National People’s Congress, declared it was committed to “resolving the Taiwan question in the new era.” This is the first time that the once-a-year document has included a timeline for annexing Taiwan since Xi took power in 2012/2012.

“New era” is one of Xi’s favorite phrases. He began using it in November 2017 and has partly explained its meaning in past statements. He stated in 2019 that “we should not allow this issue to be passed on from one generation to another.” Many see the “new age” as his tenure at China’s top political office. In short, Xi believes he will be the one to incorporate Taiwan into the People’s Republic of China. In any case, he has put it up for a test to prove his legitimacy.

And he is making preparations to absorb Taiwan. There is, however, the Fastest military buildupHis efforts to mobilize the civilian population are particularly chilling since the Second World War.

He was the one who sponsored the amendments to the National Defense Law. They became effective on the first day of last year. The changes, which contemplate the mass mobilization of society, transferred powers from a civilian organ, the central government’s State Council, to a military one, the Communist Party’s Central Military Commission. The CMC is headed by Xi.

The amended National Defense Law “embodies the concept that everyone should be involved in national defense,” reports the Party’s Global Times, summarizing the words of an unnamed CMC official. “All national organisations, armed forces, political groups, civil groups and enterprises, as well as other organizations, should support and take part the development of national defence, fulfil national defense duties and execute national defense missions in accordance with the law,” he said.

Xi does more than simply amend laws. Communist Party cadres order privately-owned factories to stop producing products for the civil sector in order to make items for military use. The party now operates factories that were once owned by entrepreneurs who fled to avoid being part of the war machine.

Charles Burton, a Macdonald-Laurier Institute based in Ottawa, stated that he believes this gives him the right to send the military under any pretext he feels necessary to defend his power. He was referring to Xi Jinping’s National Defense Law Amendments.

If Xi emerges from the first plenum with essentially unchecked power — a safe bet according to the consensus view — there is no telling what he will do. For many, a full-scale invasion of, say, Taiwan, is unthinkable, but Russia’s grab for Ukraine at the beginning of this year was also unthinkable. Vladimir Putin, an aggressive Russian President, was like Xi today the one man in a single-man political structure.

Keep an eye out. Xi Jinping has already revealed his plans and is making preparations. After the first plenum, he will be able achieve his dangerous goals.
