Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes throws ridiculous sidearm pass against Chargers to avoid sack and avoids being sacked

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes won a while to get going in Thursday night’s game against the Los Angeles Chargers, but once he led his team into the red zone it was six points or bust.

Mahomes was down 10-0 at 11:48 in the second quarter. He rolled to his left and avoided several penalties Chargers tacklers in the future 

He somehow found Jerick McKinnon running in space and made a bizarre sidearm throw. 

McKinnon catches it at the 2-yard line, and runs it in for a touchdown.

Replays of the pass revealed how wild the sidearm throw was. McKinnon was a blocker on the play before he broke free and got in between the Chargers’ secondary to catch the pass.

Mahomes was 12-for-14 passing for 98 yards and one touchdown. Despite the Chargers’ pressure, he was only able to be sacked once during the first half.

Mecole Hartman led the Chiefs in catches with two for 38 yards. Travis Kelce owned three catches for 33 yards.
