The Aldermen Park Ridge, Illinois city councilAccording to the Chicago Tribune, they expressed concern over the price of a statue and that the pitch was from an outside source. They also wondered if Ford, who was reportedly bullied as a child, would appreciate the recognition.

GQ reported in 2017 by Ford that other children used to push him down hills starting in sixth grade.

He said, “So I was the newly arrived kid, and I was short and geeky.” “I would climb the hill and then they would push me down the hill. I’d then come up the hill and they’d push me down again if they had enough time.”

In light of those sentiments, Park Ridge Mayor Marty Maloney said this week, “Based on some things I’ve heard just through Park Ridge lore about Harrison Ford and leaving Park Ridge, I would just want to make sure he was comfortable with what we’re doing if we’re taking that step on this.”
