Cheryl Burke, dog mom, bonds with furry friend Ysabella in custody battle with ex-husband

Cheryl Burke spends her time alone with her baby girl.

The Dancing with the Stars pro gave her Instagram fans a peek inside what she and her puppy were doing on Monday, September 25, despite her and ex-husband Matthew Lawrence’s ongoing custody dispute over their shared dog.

Burke uploaded a video on her Instagram Story in which she was wearing pink sweatpants, white sneakers, and walking her dog, Ysabella. “Dog mom” was added as an Instagram post, with a blue heart surrounding the words.

Recently divorced celebrity Lawrence shared a video of Ysabella settling in to her bed and biting down on the comfortable cushion.

Burke is heard telling her pet, “Oh my goodness, this is all yours,” while laughing. “Look at that big bed. You think that’s a big toy.”

Burke confirmed earlier this month on her podcast that she and her ex-boyfriend, “We are going to go to trial — unless he all of a sudden calls it off, but that would happen… and that will happen in January.” Burke’s sweet day with her dog comes after she hinted she may be taking her ex-boyfriend to court over custody of their dog.

Burke said that she’s “hurt by the whole situation,” pointing out that she’s a “dog mom” and that she “can’t even imagine [her] life” without “daughter” Ysabella.

Burke addressed the issue once more a few days later, branding the custody dispute “cruel,” saying in an interview, “She’s my dog, and it was a gift from my ex, and I hope that this soon, you know, dies down, and he calls it off. Because you’re taking my daughter away from me.”

After nearly three years of marriage, Burke filed for divorce from Lawrence in February, alleging “irreconcilable differences.”

The professional dancer was open about the challenges she faced as she began this new chapter in her life.

Many questioned if Lawrence was unfaithful after she said on her podcast, “I tend to really not trust anyone, and then I think about, ‘Am I driving people to cheat on me?’ I am not blaming me — definitely whoever has cheated on me in the past is not because of me.”

“It’s because of that person,” she insisted, “but I do believe because I get so insecure at times and jealous and all of that, I tend to … some people would like to use the word manifest, but I don’t think I am manifesting someone to hurt me, but I am used to that, it feels like home.”

Burke said that she will be spending a lot of time alone as she deals with the divorce.
