Cheney warns Trump’s Jan. 6, Testimony Won’t Be a “Circus” or a “Food Fight”

  • Liz Cheney stated that Donald Trump’s testimony will not be accepted by the January 6 Committee.

  • Cheney indicated that it may take “multiple days” to fully question the former president.

Rep. Liz Cheney said Sunday that the January 6th committee would take Donald Trump’s testimony very seriously and it will ensure that it doesn’t mirror his combative and freewheeling 2020 presidential debate with Joe Biden.  

Chuck Todd, NBC’s Chuck Todd said that the committee “treats this matter with great severity.” “Meet The Press.” 

“He won’t turn this into a circus. This isn’t going to be his first debate against Joe Biden or the circus and the food fighting that was. This is an extremely serious set of issues.”

The committee Officially subpoenaedThe former president called Friday’s meeting a call for him to turn in critical documents by November 4, and be present before the committee by November 14, after the midterm elections. 

Cheney claimed that the committee had “made it very clear what his obligations are.”

The following is a response: Committee unanimously votes to subpoenaHe was there earlier in the month. Trump sent a letterIn which he reiterated his unproven claims that the 2020 election was stolen from him. 

“We anticipate that the former president will be able to understand his legal obligation and will comply with the subpoena. Cheney stated that we’ve made it clear in the subpoena that the former president must inform us ahead of time if he plans to take the Fifth.

“We plan to continue with the questioning of former president under oath. It could take several days. It will be done with the rigor, discipline, and seriousness it deserves.”

She stated that the committee had “many and many options that we will consider” in the event that Trump refused to comply with the subpoena. Cheney said that the panel holds information on Donald Trump’s personal, direct, and supervisory role in the coordinated multi-part plan for overturning the election.
