Chelsea could lose a third player to Barcelona, as Jorginho’s agent was spotted in Spain. Club look for free transfers

Jorginho’s agent has been spotted in Barcelona, with the midfielder seen as a perfect replacement for Sergio Busquets.

The Chelsea midfielder will see his contract expire in 2023. This makes a free transfer very likely.

Joao Santos, his agent, was also present when he was seen in Catalunya. Tutto Mercato Web, Barcelona outlet SportThe club is looking for free transfers and the deal would work perfectly.

Jorginho, a Champions League European Championship winner, moved to Stamford Bridge from Napoli in 2018 for £50million, and has become a world star.

Along with his three trophies won with Chelsea in 2021, he also took home the Europa League in 2019, while he also finished third in Ballon d’Or voting last year behind Lionel Messi and Robert Lewandowski.

However, in the last year of his contract, he is permitted to sign a precontract agreement with a foreign club in January. Barca could be the perfect match.

Sport also reports that Jorginho was sounded out by Barcelona in the past in a player exchange deal but an agreement wasn’t possible. This could have been a different situation.

In 2022, the Spanish giants offered four transfers for free, including Hector Bellerin and Franck Kessie, as well as Marcos Alonso and Andreas Christensen, both Chelsea players.

Mateu Alemany has commented on the success of the club, as well as reports that he received a free transfer from Lionel Messi.

“They have rejected important offers to come to Barca and we value that,” he said.

“More and more we have to focus on the market of free players. This year we have done it with Kessie, Christensen, Marcos Alonso and Bellerin, and there are many more to come.”

The signing would be timely too, with club captain Busquets seeing his contract come to an end next summer, with MLS side Inter Miami making a push for the 34-year-old’s signature.

A midfield metronome with a World Cup and three Champions Leagues to his name, Busquets’ style of play could be replicated by another pass master in the shape of Jorginho.
