Charley Trippi, a member of the College and Pro Football Hall of Fame, dies at 100

Charley Trippi, a member of the College and Pro Football Hall of Fames, died on Wednesday at the age of 100. He was his alma mater. Georgia announced. He is known for his versatility. He played several roles during his career: running back, punter, and quarterback.

Trippi played for the Bulldogs between 1942 and 1946. He was named the most valuable player of the 1943 Rose Bowl and earned the Maxwell Award as nation’s most outstanding college football player in 1946.

Trippi is the only Georgia player to have his jersey retired.

Trippi was drafted No. 1 after college. The Chicago Cardinals drafted Trippi No. 1 overall. From 1947 to 1956, he played for the franchise and was awarded two Pro Bowl awards. Trippi was instrumental in leading the team to the 1947 championship.
